Description

Features:

  • Double-sided – three prongs and a flat blade
  • Excellent for soil loosening, weeding, and digging. When the flat part is sharpened, it serves well for chopping roots
  • Hand forged at the Yoshida-Hamono forge in Taku town, Japan
  • Lacquered Oak wood handle
  • Strong one-piece construction (without welding) blade made of medium carbon steel (S45C)

Dimensions and weight:

  • Blade length: 23 mm
  • Blade width: 65 mm
  • Total length: 400 mm
  • Weight: 600 g

Notes:

The wedge holding the blade to the handle is gently hammered in. We recommend firmly hammering it in before use to prevent the tool from wobbling.

The Ikagata hoe, like most traditional tools from Japan, is made of rust-prone steel, so proper care is essential. After use, we advise cleaning the blade and coating it with vegetable oil, and storing the tool in a dry place. If rust or other deposits form, you can use products from our our steel care kit.

Each tool is unique and its appearance may differ slightly from the one shown in the photo. The blade is hand-forged, and the handle is made of natural wood. Therefore, there may be variations in shades and patterns. This does not affect the quality in any way but gives each tool more personality.
