Description

Distinctive Features of SUEHIRO New Cerax Series Sharpening Stones:

  • Less binder, more abrasive in the same volume – stones are much more wear-resistant
  • Special high-performance composition – although the stone wears slower, the abrasive also stays sharp longer. Metal removal remains as effective as with quick-wearing stones
  • Reduced soaking time – no need for long soaking before sharpening – up to 5 minutes of soaking is sufficient
  • Sold with a mounting stand and soaking basin. No additional accessories needed – you’ll have a complete sharpening kit (soaking basin, stand with rubber base) in a single stone format. Can be conveniently sharpened when placed on any flat surface
  • The set also includes a Nagura conditioning stone

*What is Nagura?

Nagura conditioning stone is a dry clay lump not used directly. It’s designed to cover the smoother stone surface with clay slurry for more effective sharpening from the start, as NEW CERAX series stones are somewhat too hard to form this slurry quickly – Nagura is included with stones of all grits. Before sharpening, rub the soaked Nagura on the sharpening stone surface and begin sharpening. Nagura won’t be needed in the further sharpening process.

Specifications:

  • Stone dimensions: 206 × 73 × 23 mm
  • Complete set dimensions: 240 × 93 × 45 mm
  • Weight: 800 g
  • Grit: #3000

Usage Instructions:

  • Before use, soak no longer than 5 minutes in lukewarm water
  • Sharpen with consistent pressure, trying to utilize the entire stone surface
  • Periodically flatten the stone (every few sharpenings) using a flattening plate or sandpaper placed on a flat surface (e.g., glass)
  • Before sharpening, rub the sharpening stone surface with a soaked Nagura, then begin sharpening. During further sharpening, Nagura will no longer be needed

Notes:

  • Not recommended for use with oil or other petroleum products for lubrication, as this may damage the stone’s binder – stones are designed for use with water only
  • NEW CERAX series stones are not recommended to be kept submerged in water for long-term storage
