What makes this Japanese Genno Hammer special?
- The flat face has various woodworking applications while the curved face is meant for flush nail finish without leaving indentations or other hammering marks on the surface
- The curved face can also be used in a Japanese joinery technique where a tenon is hammered slightly (without damaging the fibers with hard edges) to fit snugly within a mortice, later expanding and locking the joint tight
- Due to its octagonal shape it’s very handy to use on its side
for reaching inner corners and other hard-to-access areas - Tempered faces and softer steel body prevents the head from bouncing off the surface and puts less force on the wrist
